This book tells the history of the first camp for kids with cancer in the U.S. and the woman who started it in partnership with the American Cancer Society.  Camp Hope:  The "Ma Donna" Years 1983-2000 details the people, events, and stories of the first 18 years of Camp Hope from the family circumstances that led Donna Brown to the ACS and the development of the inaugural camp on through her retirement in 2000.  You will learn about the campers, counselors, medical staff, and volunteers who have made Camp Hope what it is:  A place beyond the rainbow.

Kevin W. Brown is a former educator who retired in 2015 after more than 30 years of teaching and coaching.  He is the son of Donna Brown, Camp Hope founder, and the late Clinton Brown.  Brown grew up in McPherson, Kansas, and is a graduate of McPherson High School, Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kansas, and Emporia (Kansas) State University.  He currently lives in Eureka, Kansas, with his wife, Pam.  Before settling in as a teacher and coach, Brown was a PGA Class A golf professional for 10 years.  He is an avid fan of KU basketball, the Kansas City Royals, and the Kansas City Chiefs, and sports in general.  When he’s not writing, Brown likes to play golf, read, and spend time with his children and step-children and their families.  Brown’s first book, The Universe Today:  It’s Not Religion vs. Science Anymore, was published in 2016, and he is working on two other books at this time:  No, the President Can’t Take Your Guns Away and other Political Myths, and Camp Hope:  The Legacy Continues 2000-2017, which is expected to be released in June, 2018.
